Use AI tools to get accurate and up-to-date information, drawing upon reliable sources from the internet and citing them for verification.

AI landscape is changing rapidly, keep updated by discovering AI tools with Supertools. Below we share the AI tools and platforms available in summer 2024. Check pricing for not-for-profits.

Use AI tools based on LLM (Large Language Models) like Perplexity.ai (or similar AI tool/platform) to ask both open-ended questions and specific search requests. The tool will return a response in conversational style and provide links to various sources on which the answer was based on.
After trying out and playing, reflect on the following questions:
  • What was your experience of using a AI assistance? What impact did it have on you?
  • How can you use this game in your training and learning activities?
Submit your reflection responses to the badge evidence below.

Watch videos below introducing Perplexity.ai tools

Would you like to dig deeper and get some nerdy details about the way LLMs (Large Language Models) work when you make a prompt? Then watch this video, where of course AI was used for a deep fake of Ryan Gossling explaining things in a rather understandable manner.

Source: How To Fly Youtube Channel (with more deep fakes actors explaining other aspects linked AI based content generation.

AI text-based conversational language tools: Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Open AI ChatGPT, Perplexity AI.
Video Creation with AI: Invidio AI, Synthesia, Descript, Lumen5.
AI tools to generate images and graphic design: Picsart, Canva (Magic Studio), Midjourney (works on Discord), Clipdrop

How to formulate good prompts to generative AI tool?

  1. Start from a clear task: Clearly state what you're asking or looking for. Specific prompts lead to more accurate and useful responses.
  2. Include context: If your question or request builds on previous information or is about a specific topic, include that context in your prompt.
  3. Specify the desired tone: If you have a specific tone in mind, such as professional, casual, or humorous, state this at the beginning of your prompt. This helps set expectations for the style of the response.
  4. Identify the target audience: Start by clearly identifying the target audience for your content. This could be based on age (e.g., children, teenagers, adults), profession (e.g., scientists, educators, business professionals), level of expertise (e.g., beginners, intermediates, experts), or interest group (e.g., enthusiasts).
  5. Set format of the output: If you have a particular format or detail level in mind (like a summary, a list, a table, or a detailed explanation), mention it in your prompt.
  6. Specify content limitations: Clearly state any restrictions related to the content of the response, such as avoiding technical jargon, excluding certain topics, or focusing only on specific aspects of a broader subject.

Prompt example:

  1. "Could you help me draft a short description for an upcoming international training course? (Task and Context)
  2. The training course is designed specifically for youth workers (Target audience) aiming to enhance their skills in fostering active youth participation in local projects.
  3. We're looking for something that's informative, (Tone) ideally capturing the essence of active participation and professional development.
  4. The description should be suitable for sharing on social media and in our newsletter, (Format) please keep it under 200 words, and ensure plain, accessible language (Limitations)
  5. and include practical examples of the skills participants will learn and the impact they can expect to have on their work with youth. (Expected Outcome)"

AI Pro trips:

Experiment with variations. Try different ways of phrasing your prompt to see how slight changes can impact the responses. This can help you understand how the model interprets various cues.

Specify desired detail level. Indicate whether you want a brief overview or a detailed exploration to guide the depth of the response.

Ask one thing at a time: To get the best answers, ask about one topic or question per prompt. This keeps the focus clear and the response relevant.

Define the persona: If you want the tool to respond in the manner of a specific persona, such as a scientist, a teacher, or a fictional character, clearly describe this persona. Include any relevant traits or characteristics that should influence the responses.

Accuracy of information. Tools like ChatGPT 4o and Google Gemini models are trained on data up until autumn 2023. This means they might not have information on recent events or the latest research developments. The models can also unintentionally generate incorrect or misleading information.
