Everyone is visible… almost everywhere and always. It's about what you do with your visibility. Can you shine wherever you are in the world - or who you are with? How do you ensure that you know your own strengths and weaknesses on a mental, physical and emotional level? By knowing yourself well, you can bring your uniqueness into the activities you are committed to. Have your visibility under control and actively curate your personal »brand« → yourself.

To be able to create your personal brand – you must first know who you are and what you wish to become. It is very much possible that you want to have several personal brandings, each circumstance or career path can need a different approach due to the habits, expectations or needs of the specific community that you want to be visible for.

By doing this activity, you:
  • know your why or have found your calling;
  • are aware of your Personal Career Model;
  • are able to present yourself and your initiatives clearly and for different audiences;
  • know how to get credits for everything you do and how to shine wherever or with whoever you are in the world.
As a result, the skill 'managing reputation and identity in a world full of connections' is being worked on.

Why / find your calling
Have you heard of the Japanese concept »Ikigai«? Some people describe it as »a motivating force; something or someone that gives a person a sense of purpose, a reason for living«. Personal purpose cannot be found overnight, but you can shorely start exploring it. How? Start with »Why«.

Video Simon Sinek: Golden circle or find your why:

You can find your own voice in your talents, capacities, privileges, intelligence and opportunities. This will help you find clarity on your next move and will guide you towards fulfilment in your learning, life and work.

Personal career model
With understanding oneself and one’s values it is easier to move in the desired direction. The model provides a clear overview of what we have, what we know and what we can contribute to the world. While the process of creating a Personal Career model, brings freshness and motivation for future work. Visualise your personal value, people you want to collaborate with, partners who can help you on your way and key actions you must take.

Present yourself
Your data is a treasure trove and everyone wants it. How do you protect it, trade it, share it and extract value from it? Become the master of your personal branding and make sure you are the sole creator or your personal data. Practice - so your presentations will be clear and adjustable for different audiences. Deliver your “pitch” with simplified content, provide crucial information and keep on point.

Reflecting
How can you effectively convey your personal or career message to others? When you present yourself, reflect on what you are doing and if it is effective. You learn from experiences when you reflect on them. Through reflection you see whether your assumptions, presuppositions and views are the right ones or whether you can see things differently, so that these things change. Reflection also makes you aware of your reasons for doing what you do.
hen you present yourself or a theme you are passionate about, then other people are receiving that message. It can be important to know how those other people have received the message. A word that you use or a behaviour that you show can call an allergy response of someone else.  For example, when you share in your message that you are a helper, then someone else can receive that as you being a meddler. A tool to use for understanding your relationships better is the Ofman Core Quality Quadrant.

Be honest but kind to yourself when reflecting.

Get credits
With credits you build brand awareness. For example, credits can be found in the film and television world where those involved have the right to be mentioned in the credits. In learning and career more often we use Open Badges, when you put these badges in a digital portfolio you show who you are, which civic or career path you are following.

Other learning opportunities
When you have created your own brand, the next step is to move your ass and act like it. Supportive learning activities can be:
  • Move your ass
  • Vision my learning, and
  • First things first
