Identifying Needs and technological responses

Badge informationEndorsements
The badge holder has demonstrated dedication and competence in the competency of problem-solving: recognizing needs and mastering technological solutions. With pride, he or she can demonstrate the following results and skills:

Assessing needs and recognizing, evaluating, selecting, and using digital tools and potential technological solutions. Adapting digital environments and tailoring them to personal needs (e.g., accessibility).

Independently, based on my own needs and when solving clearly defined and non-routine problems, I can:
  • clarify needs;
  • select digital tools and potential technological solutions for those needs;
  • select methods to adapt and tailor digital environments to personal needs.
(c) DigComp 2.2

These achievements have been recognized and rewarded in consultation with the badge holder by the coach and work supervisor, who have issued the badge as a sign of the badge holder's achievements. Whether you, as the reader of this badge, are an employer looking for a person with digital skills or someone who wants to demonstrate and strengthen their skills, this badge is a clear indication of digital knowledge and skills.
Tasks
Task no.1
Issued by organiser or scanning QR code
Make a plan with your coach about which tasks you will perform to master the following skills:
  • clarifying needs;
  • selecting digital tools and possible technological solutions for those needs;
  • selecting methods to adapt and tailor digital environments to personal needs.

Examples for developing these skills:
Imagine you know someone who is colorblind and has difficulty distinguishing certain colors. If you want to help, you can start by clarifying their needs. Ask which situations are difficult for them and what they would like to be able to do.
Then, you can search for digital tools that can help distinguish colors, such as color filters or corrections. There are several apps and software available, such as Color Enhancer and Color Oracle.
Once you have found a few possible solutions, you can help the person select the most suitable tool for their needs and devices. It may work on different devices, or it may work better on a specific device such as a mobile phone or tablet.
Finally, you can adjust and tailor the digital environments to their personal needs together. Maybe the person wants to set the color filter permanently or only use it in certain situations. You can experiment together to see what works best for them and make adjustments to the settings of their devices and apps.
By going through these steps and helping the person clarify their needs, select digital tools, and adapt digital environments, you can help overcome the challenges of color blindness and enjoy digital devices and environments in a way that suits them best.

Step 1: Ask someone for a need
Step 2: Come up with multiple digital tools or technology you can use for this
Step 3: Adapt and tailor digital environments together to meet personal needs.

But it doesn't stop there - increase the value of your badge by adding your learning process and achievements to your badge. This enables potential employers to gain a better understanding of your digital skills.
